COVID-19

Exposure to SARS-CoV-2 could occur in many work environments.  (SARS-CoV-2: severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2). Given that the hazard (SARS-CoV-2) cannot be eliminated at this time, current measures such as physical distancing, face coverings and ventilation are crucial to limit the spread of the virus.

WorkSafe NZ, as well as NZ Ministry of Health – have important information to refer to.  Their information is updated frequently as a result of new data emerging due to the nature of this virus.  We have included the links to both government websites below.  As Occupational Hygienists we can help workplaces to undertake risk assessments for this biological hazard  and work with PCBUs in order to eliminate the risk of exposure if possible; or minimise the exposure.  Please, refer to NZOHS position statement for more information (link provided below).
