Marty Byrne is a seasoned executive with over 35 years of experience in the maritime, ports, and logistics sectors across Fiji, Australia, and New Zealand. As the former CEO of Port Nelson Ltd and Vice President of the International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH), Marty has been a driving force in the industry, earning honorary membership in the IAPH. He has also contributed to health and safety leadership as part of the NZ Business Leaders Health and Safety Forum. Currently, Marty serves as Chief Executive of Christchurch Attractions, overseeing iconic tourism ventures.

In his keynote, "Protected Disclosure – The Price of Integrity," Marty shares a powerful personal story from 2021, when a business review of a Nelson-based marine engineering company led to life-changing events. In collaboration with Victoria University of Wellington, abstracts/papers/posters will be peer-reviewed for publication in Volume 2, Edition 2 of the New Zealand Journal of Health and Safety Practice.
