Mentoring Programme

NZOHS Mentoring Programme

Occupational hygiene is a profession where experience matters, and as such, having the right person to talk things through with can make a real difference to your career. The NZOHS Mentoring Programme connects members who want to grow with those who have been there.

The programme pairs mentors and mentees for a structured relationship of up to 24 months. You set your own goals and meeting cadence. NZOHS provides the structure, the match, and the support required to get you growing.

Who's it for?

For Mentees

If you are a current NZOHS member who wants to develop your career, build professional confidence, or work through a specific challenge, apply to be matched with a mentor. Membership at any level is eligible.

For Mentors

If you are a Full, Fellow, or Retired member of NZOHS with experience to share, you can register as a mentor. You’ll earn CPD points — and most mentors find they get as much from the collaboration journey as their mentee.

Types of Mentoring

Type What It Looks Like
Conventional Mentoring An experienced occupational hygienist supports a member in the development of their career. Good for career direction, technical development, and building professional confidence.
Peer Mentoring Two occupational hygienists at a similar career stage support each other. Good for working through shared challenges and staying connected to the profession.
Reverse Mentoring A budding hygienist shares emerging knowledge or skills with a more experienced colleague. Good for both parties and bridges generational gaps in the profession.
