Mentoring Programme
NZOHS Mentoring Programme
Occupational hygiene is a profession where experience matters — and where having the right person to talk things through with can make a real difference to your career. The NZOHS Mentoring Programme connects members who want to grow with those who have been there.
The programme pairs mentors and mentees for a structured relationship of up to 24 months. You set your own goals and meeting cadence. NZOHS provides the structure, the match, and the support.
Who is it for?
For Mentees
If you are a current NZOHS member who wants to develop your career, build professional confidence, or work through a specific challenge, apply to be matched with a mentor. Membership at any level is eligible.
For Mentors
If you are a full or fellow member of NZOHS with experience to share, you can register as a mentor. It earns CPD points — and most mentors find they get as much from the relationship as their mentee does.
Types of Mentoring
| Type | What It Looks Like |
| Conventional Mentoring | An experienced hygienist supports a member earlier in their career. Good for career direction, technical development, and building professional confidence. |
| Peer Mentoring | Two hygienists at a similar career stage support each other. Good for working through shared challenges and staying connected to the profession. |
| Reverse Mentoring | A newer practitioner shares emerging knowledge or skills with a more experienced colleague. Good for both parties. |
